We’ll be joining forces with Project Mavens and give a workshop called Blogging in Pixels!
Creating Custom Visuals for Online Content
Custom-designing a blog is more than just filling in a template, it’s creating unique visual images that will give your work a distinct presence in a very crowded cyberspace. This workshop is designed for non-techie bloggers who want to infuse more of their personality into their online space. You will learn skills that will let you dive into designing mood boards, textures, text, layering & everything in between!
This is a hands-on workshop that will let you learn, experiment with and understand the magic behind image editing software. Each participant will create a mini-project designed to accompany written content for their blog – a visual composition of images, typography and graphics, and an animated version of the previous composition.
- Written copy of a piece that you want to publish (or is already published) and a set of images you would like to use with the written piece.
- Bring your own laptop – this is a HANDS-ON class. Also, bring a mouse, it will make your work a lot easier.
- We will be working with Gimp. Please make sure it is installed in your computer prior to the workshop. (Gimp is an Image retouching and editing tool, licensed as Free and Open Source Software).
- No previous experience with design software is needed. This workshop is meant for non-techies! [space size=20]
